May Your Candle Shine Brighter

By Robert Raymond

When a sudden loss has been placed upon us
Our desire to understand why is strong… yet hopeless
Our eyes are glazed… Our hearts are broken…
Our thoughts are sometimes scattered and lacking meaning
Even though our loss may be tall
Even though our loss may seem overwhelming and never ending
It is through love’s light… that we will be able to overcome
As we go through life and gather the love of those around us
As we share and give our love in return
It is in our gestures of love
That is the light… of our candle
That is the light that shines in our character and in our hearts
As we lose those ones who are nearest to us
As we lose those ones that are dearest to us
Remember, we can gather the light of those we have lost
We can carry their light in our souls
So that our souls remain complete and not broken
May the light you have gathered and refused to let go
Shine through your soul…
In the form of love, laughter and joy
So the light of your candle can shine brighter
So that someday your light may be gathered… by those you have left behind
